# French Audio Transcriptionist — Belgium (AI Training) ## About the Role What if your ear for spoken Belgian French could directly shape how AI understands and processes real-world conversations? We're looking for detail-oriented French transcriptionists based in Belgium to produce highly accurate transcriptions of spoken audio — helping train AI systems that millions of people will rely on. This is hands-on, meaningful work that rewards precision and deep listening. You'll tackle real audio featuring multiple speakers, crosstalk, filled pauses, background noise, and natural conversational nuance — including the distinctive features of Belgian French. If you take pride in catching every word and following exacting guidelines, this role is for you. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No prior AI experience needed — just native-level French, strong ears, and a commitment to quality. - **Organization**: Alignerr - **Type**: Hourly Contract - **Location**: Remote - **Commitment**: 10–40 hours/week ## What You'll Do * Listen to French-language audio recordings and produce accurate, detailed transcriptions * Handle challenging audio — including overlapping speakers, crosstalk, background noise, accents, and filled pauses typical in Belgian French (e.g., "euh", "hein", "allo") * Identify and distinguish between multiple speakers throughout a recording * Follow detailed style and formatting guidelines with precision and consistency * Apply transcription conventions for non-verbal sounds, inaudible segments, and spoken disfluencies * Maintain high accuracy and quality standards across large volumes of audio * Work independently and asynchronously — fully on your own schedule ## Who You Are * Native or near-native fluency in French — ideally with familiarity with Belgian French phonology and vocabulary (e.g., "septante", "nonante", local expressions) * Exceptional listening skills with a sharp ear for nuance, tone, and subtle audio details * Naturally detail-oriented with a consistent, methodical approach to work * Comfortable following and applying detailed style guides and formatting rules * Able to work with imperfect audio — background noise, low quality, or overlapping speech don't throw you off * Self-motivated and reliable when working independently * Strong written French skills with excellent spelling and grammar ## Nice to Have * Professional experience as a transcriptionist, court reporter, or stenographer * Background in subtitle creation, closed-captioning, or video annotation * Experience with linguistics, phonetics, or language documentation * Prior work with annotation platforms or data labeling tools * Familiarity with Belgian regional accents and dialectal variation * Experience in translation, localization, or editorial work ## Why Join Us * Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading research labs * Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you * Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, task-based work * Contribute to AI development that shapes how technology understands spoken French * Develop and sharpen your transcription skills on diverse, real-world audio * Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
